Naturopathic Physician: How to Choose?

If you are looking for a licensed naturopathic physician who has full medical training, please visit the American Association of Naturopathic Professionals. There are numerous ‘naturopaths’ who are not licensed and who are not graduates from accredited naturopathic universities.

‘Naturopaths’ who are graduates of non-doctorate programs are dangerous and are far from properly trained.

Naturopathic physicians are fully trained medical professionals that study the same coursework as medical doctors. Accredited schools are 4 yr doctoral programs. The accredited naturopathic schools are few. The schools that are accredited are:

  • Bastyr University.
  • National College of Naturopathic Medicine.
  • Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.
  • University of Bridgeport’s Connecticut College of Naturopathic Medicine.
  • Boucher Institute in Canada.
  • Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

That is it. If the naturopath has not graduated from one of those institutions, then you are in dangerous hands.

To locate a licensed naturopathic physician, there are a few free referral services. Two main ones are:

  • AANP website

Should you have any questions about naturopathic training or natural medicine in general, I am here.

Be safe in locating a naturopath. There are good legitimate ones - and there are deadly certificate holding people who are not qualified at all.

In health,
Ben
